I'm currently using 5/16 anchor chain on my boat and would like to add an additional 20 feet of chain utilizing the twin Clevis link. Would this Clevis link work with a windlass? I have also looked at the possibility of using the Crosby 5/16 missing link, I read so many pros/cons about this link and its holding strength. Can you set the store straight about this type of link, is it a wish choice to use. Also, it would be very helpful if you Could recommend any other possible option that I may use to connect the chain. View answer

I've recently purchased 5 feet 1/2" pewag chain and thought I had a lock included in the purchase. I had also acquired a blank key lock but today the chain, (wow), and blank arrived. Folks, I called and spoke with someone yesterday. They were very nice. The info they gave me does not seem to be accurate however. Here is what I am looking for and asking. I want to buy chain (5/16 to 3/8th). I want American made or at least not China. I want the choker hooks to also be American or simply not China. It appears when you buy the hooks individually most of them say imported. Can you confirm where they are imported from. Then if you look at the chain and hooks together some say USA/Imported. My assumption is the hooks are imported once again. Can you tell me where the imported hooks are made AND if you have any combo that is all American. Thank you in advance. So I need a choker that I can quickly attach to hook on skid loader and the other end to choke the dead sows to pull them out of our farrowing and gestation barns. Ropes are a pain, chains are also. A wire rope choker sling seems like it be the ticket...but will the wire rope quickly break being drug across gravel for short distances...one of the guys worries about getting cut by broken strands of wire...?
