What does bow width mean? What is the length of the shackle when it's laid out?

What is the diameter of the finished shackle. I need the loop end to pass through an 11/32" round hole.

Bow width refers to the diameter of the shackle when closed but not under tension. In this case it is 5.5".
The length laid out for this particular shackle is roughly 17".
