I am in need of a security chain, (Grade 120, 9/32 Size, 15 ft, 5200 lb) for my GENERAC Mobile Generator so it doesn't wander off down the street during a storm. My plan is to secure the generator to my garage wall can you please recommend a locking device that is best to secure the chain to the garage wall? Also what type of lock do I need to lock the generator with the chain?Best Regards1SG Paul Zedalis, USA MP Corps retired View answer

I am wanting to purchase the 1/2" Pewag chain and the Pewag Viro "Euromonolith" 1/2" Security Chain Padlock - #4153 . My question is......can this lock be closed ANYWHERE on the chain, not just the end links of the chain. The chain will be used for different applications, requiring the lock to be locked at different places on the length of the chain. View answer

We have an enclosed trailer that was modified to haul classic cars. The rear ramp, modified with steel and 3/4 plywood, weighing about 800 lbs., is raised and lowered by a 2500 lb. winch. 5/16 cable runs over a 2" pulley suspended at the ceiling, just inside the door. After only about 20 open/close cycles, at a point EXACTLY 10 inches up from the thimble where cable attaches to the ramp, the "core" stand of the cable begins to protrude about a 1/2 inch. I tried steel, stainless, and galvanized; always happens in the same spot, same time frame! Any ideas why? I've cut 16" off the end, replace thimble and clamps, and it happens again! View answer
