I am trying to use a zink plated copper oval swaged sleeve with this rope (1/2"), but my 12 ton compression tool will not compress the sleeve enough to allow the pass/ fail gauge to clear. When I use the same tool and gauge with standard 1/2" rope I get a pass every time. It makes sense that since the rope is denser the sleeve cannot compress as far. Is there a different gauge to use with swaged wire rope? A different sleeve? This is a critical application (zip line) so I need View answer

Other (similar) clamp designs state they are only to be used for materials with a surface hardness below HRC 30 (HB 300, Brinel 1300). For sheet metal, it indicates that would allow use for mild steel but not stainless steel, and it also states it is not for use with aluminum.
