For 7x19 stainless steel aircraft cable, a typical effective (apparent) modulus of elasticity is approximately 14,000,000 psi, calculated on the cable's metallic cross-sectional area. That is roughly half the modulus of the 304 stainless wire itself (about 28,000,000 psi), because the stranded construction lets the cable stretch more than a solid rod would. New cable will also show some initial constructional stretch as the strands seat under load. For design-critical stretch calculations, call us at 800-442-7454 and we can check with the manufacturer.
