In general, polyester rope is well suited to wet environments because it has low water absorption, good resistance to UV exposure and abrasion, and retains its strength when wet. Polyester also has relatively low stretch compared with nylon and offers good resistance to moderate heat.
However, automatic pool cover systems may have specific requirements for rope diameter, construction, elongation, strength, and compatibility with the drive mechanism. We would not recommend substituting this rope unless it meets the specifications provided by the pool cover manufacturer.
