The RUD VRS-F Starpoint is designed for multi-directional loading, including loads that are perpendicular (90°) to the bolt axis. Unlike a standard DIN 580 eye bolt, the VRS-F features a 360° swiveling ring that should be rotated into the direction of the applied load before lifting. This allows the ring to align with the load, minimizing bending stresses in the bolt and maintaining its rated Working Load Limit (WLL) when used correctly.
The only significant restriction is that the load must remain within the plane of the ring. Transverse loading across the ring (side-loading the ring itself) is prohibited, even though the bolt may be at a 90° angle to the load. The manual illustrates the acceptable and prohibited loading directions.
In the Working Load Limit table, RUD even provides WLL values for 90° loading, confirming that the product is intended for this type of application when properly oriented.
