This rescue kit is a mechanical advantage system designed to safely lift or lower a worker during a rescue. It uses a 5:1 pulley system, which means the rescuer only needs to apply about 1/5 of the load force to move the person.
How it works in simple terms:
- Connect to the fallen worker
The system is attached to the worker’s harness (either directly or using a pole and hook accessory if they’re out of reach). - Pulley system multiplies your strength
The rope is routed through multiple pulleys, creating a 5:1 mechanical advantage—so pulling 20 lbs of force can move a 100 lb load (before friction). - Raise or lower the worker
The rescuer pulls the rope to either:- Lift the worker slightly (to relieve tension on their lanyard or fall device), or
- Control a safe descent to the ground
- Built-in braking system adds safety
The device includes an integral braking system that automatically holds the load if the rescuer lets go of the rope—preventing accidental drops - Controlled descent
Once tension is transferred, the rescuer can gradually lower the worker in a controlled manner.
