The IPPH is designed for horizontal lifting of pipes or similarly shaped round fabrications. It can potentially be used for light poles only if the pole’s geometry and rigging setup meet the same criteria—meaning the pole is a clean, round, tubular section that allows the hook jaw to seat properly and the lift is done using two hooks at the correct included angle (60°–90°) with load within the WLL.
However, Crosby emphasized several concerns:
-
Light poles often have irregular shapes, tapers, or attached fixtures that prevent proper seating of the hook.
-
Using a single hook, or lifting from hand-holes or asymmetrical points, falls outside intended use.
-
The product is not rated or certified for this application and any such use would be considered non-standard.
-
If geometry, rigging angle, or WLL compliance cannot be confirmed, Crosby recommends a dedicated light pole lifting device designed for that purpose.
