ANSI/ASSP Z359.14‑2021 — SRL Arresting Distance
Note: Arresting distance is not the same as required fall clearance. Total clearance depends on factors like worker height, D‑ring height, SRL line payout, deceleration, harness stretch, connector length, swing fall, and safety margin.
The SRL in question is classified as a Class 2 SRL. Given that, the following outlines the current ANSI/ASSP Z359.14‑2021 standards (effective August 1, 2023) for maximum arresting distance for both Class 1 and Class 2 SRLs:
| Class | Maximum Arresting Distance | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Class 1 | 42 in (1,067 mm) | Anchorage at or above the dorsal D‑ring. |
| Class 2 | 42 in (1,067 mm) | Leading‑edge capable; anchorage may be above, at, or up to 5 ft below the dorsal D‑ring. |
