CM web sling shackles are designed for straight-line loading only. Unlike CM anchor shackles, web sling shackles do not have published side-loading or angular-loading capacities. The side-loading reduction chart in ASME B30.26 and CM’s anchor shackle guidelines do not apply to web sling shackles.
To achieve the full Working Load Limit (WLL):
-
The load must be evenly distributed across the entire shackle pin — do not point load.
-
Shackles should be used only in applications where the load line of action is in-line with the shackle body.
-
Do not use web sling shackles in any configuration that imposes bending, torsion, or side-pull forces on the body or pin.
-
Maintain the correct sling width per manufacturer specifications (M706: fits web slings up to 6" wide).
-
Inspect before each use for wear, deformation, or damage.
For applications requiring angular or side loading, use a CM anchor shackle sized and rated for the intended load and angle, applying the appropriate WLL reduction factors.
