Thank you for your question. ASME B30.9 requires slings to be inspected in three ways: an initial inspection before first use (including new, repaired, altered, or modified slings), frequent inspections by the user before each shift or use, and periodic inspections at least once every 12 months by a designated person. However, ASME B30.9 does not require "recertification" or annual proof testing. Some users choose to have slings inspected and proof-tested annually by a rigging supplier, but this is optional unless your internal policy requires it. Proof testing is not the same as recertification. Slingmax slings are proof-tested at manufacture and after repairs but not during routine inspections. Written records are only required for periodic inspections, not for initial or frequent inspections.
