No, this is in reference to the strength of the gate alone should it be subjected to a load. According to ANSI Z359.1-2007, all carabiners and snap hooks used in general industry fall protection must have a 3,600 lbs gate strength rating. While most modern products on the market are compliant with this standard, some are not. Previously, the required load rating was only 220 lbs, which means this new standard is more than 10x the previous standard.
