Can this be used with rope?

Generally speaking, blocks with aluminum sheaves are preferred for use with rope, but steel sheaves (as found on this block) may be used. Be advised you will need to pay careful attention to the sheave. Make sure it is free of burrs or anything that might damage the rope, and that the rope you're using is a proper diameter for the sheave.
