If this is mounted to a house outside wall that is concrete block, is it better to go into the block itself or the mortar in between the block? Most homes in South Florida are made with block and of course the block has hollow spots.

Because we cannot physically inspect the exact block you would install into, we recommend splitting the difference and installing half into the block itself, and half into the mortar.
