This type of cable actually holds up surprisingly well outdoors thanks to the lubrication applied at the factory. Additionally, this cable is almost exclusively used outside by loggers, contractors, farmers, ranchers, tow truck operators, etc. That said, depending on climate and exactly how the cable is used, you can expect surface rust over time. It will likely be necessary to reapply lubricant periodically.
