Is it possible to put one end around a fork 6wide x 2-1/2 thick and attach a safety hook to the other end. I build and sell concrete water troughs. All of the troughs have stainless steel cable loops cast into the floor for handling. These cable loops are from 1/8 to 5/16 cable. Yes, what you're asking sounds plausible. We can even have they sling made with a hook on one end so it attaches directly to your load. Additionally, you may want a bit of an oversized eye on the opposite end, with chafe sleeve, so it holds up to the steady wear and tear of the fork.
