The latter. These are installed by drilling through the pole head and inserting a bolt. Many prefer to insert a wooden dowel and drill though it to strengthen the entire area.
Is the pole socket on this trimmer head threaded to xxxx onto a threaded pole? Or is it cross drilled to put a bolt or xxxx through? Phoenix Pole Pruner Head
