I want to use this with 3/8" nylon rope. Restoring a vintage boat trailer and the tie down straps used 3/8" nylon rope . If I order 3/8" aluminum oval swage sleeves would they be the right size? Trying to keep the original style.

Yes, 3/8" sleeves are for use with 3/8" line, but they are only designed to work with cable. You can install them on rope but be advised the holding power will be minimal and they should not be used for any significant application (where failure could cause damage, injury, etc.).
